Information about star sapphires and the like.
Star Sapphires
Star sapphires are a type of sapphire known for the phenomenon they exhibit, called an asterism. An asterism is a reflective part of certain gemstones shaped like a 6-rayed star. These asterisms are caused by titanium dioxide impurities in the stone. Asterisms can be viewed with a single overhead light source. Star saphires usually come in blue, but can be found in other colors. The value of star sapphires is determined by carat weight, body color, and visibility/intensity of the asterism.
What is a fanlisting?
The idea of a fanlisting is to make a list of people, organized by country. But not just any list of people-a list of people who are fans of the fanlisting's subjects. Basically, it's exactly what the name says!
About Radiance
ra·di·ance
Noun
1.) The quality of being bright and sending out rays of light.
I chose the name "Radiance" in reference to the asterism on a star sapphire. It seemed very fitting. I chose to create this fanlisting because I have a great love for sapphires in general, but more specifically, star sapphires, and especially blue star sapphires. (This would also explain the color of the layout.) Aquamarine, my favorite gem, already had a fanlisting, which was quite unfortunate for me, but I was so happy this subject was open!
Radiance is run by me, Ellethwen and is a part of Seastar.
